The fire, which is said to have started following an arson attack on a clothing store in the Mudanya district of Bursa, spread to the upper floors of the apartments. Those caught in a fire while sleeping at home in the middle of the night desperately threw themselves out of the flame trap. These moments were watched second by second by a person who came out of the house.
During the fire which broke out in the clothing store on the ground floor of the Coştan apartment on Mustafa Kemalpaşa street in Halitpaşa Mahallesi, the flames which reached the upper floors caused great panic.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire at Fehime Acar’s workplace was the result of arson. While the clothing store was burnt to the ground in the fire allegedly started by Acar’s ex-wife, the flames were extinguished before spreading to the upper floors of the building. However, the citizens of the apartment caught in the midnight fire experienced great panic. Those who left in panic recorded these moments.
Although there were no injuries or deaths in the incident, 112 emergency services responded to those affected by the smoke.
While it is claimed that a person broke the window before the fire started and entered a vehicle after setting the store on fire, he drove away. Acar said that her ex-husband constantly threatened her and said “I am going to burn you”.
As teams from the Mudanya Police Department launch a full-scale investigation into the incident, efforts are made to apprehend the suspect.
